We've curated private concerts, tasting menus, architectural tours, beautiful hotels, waterfalls, glaciers, rainbows, and wild horses on this insider anti-tour experience that is unlike anything else.

TOUR GUIDE:
Throughout the week, we’ll be led through Icelandic culture, landscapes, and other phenomena by our illustrious leader, Thor Tulinius. Thor is a well-seasoned actor and director of theatre having performed in over 50 theatre productions for the Reykjavik City Theatre, The National Theatre of Iceland, and various professional theatre groups. He also founded his own theatre company, Thibilja, in 1989. Also an extraordinary guide, Thor tells stories of the sagas and legends, explains and discusses many aspects of Icelandic life and economics, and executes an impeccable program.

TOUR PRODUCER:

Double occupancy: $5,395 (per person)
Single occupancy: $6,510

PAYMENT SCHEDULE: Non-refundable deposits of $750 are due to Project Por Amor upon signing up and complete payment of the final balance is due to Project Por Amor 90 days before departure (May 18th). Changes and cancellations 120 days or more before departure (April 18th) will be refunded based on the refund policy found in the Terms and Conditions.

8 CURIOUS FACTS ABOUT “PARADICE”

  1. Iceland is ranked as the safest country in the world. The Icelandic police don’t carry guns. Crime in Iceland is very low and violence is practically nonexistent. "Niceland" does not have an army, navy, or air force.

  2. Iceland is home to the world’s oldest-running democracy, the Althing, established in 930. It also had the first democratically elected female and openly gay heads of state.

  3. Iceland is considered to be the best place in the world to be a woman. For the last decade, the nation has topped the World Economic Forum's annual gender gap report and placed first in The Economist's "glass ceiling" index. It has one of the best records in the world for female political representation and corporate board membership.

  4. Iceland is at the forefront of sustainable energy production. Almost all electricity in Iceland is produced using renewable energy sources, with 73% provided by hydropower plants and 26.8% from geothermal energy, accounting for over 99% of total electricity consumption in Iceland.

  5. Per capita, Iceland has the highest number of book and magazine publications and 10% of its population will publish a book in their lifetimes. The Icelandic language remains unchanged from ancient Norse. That means 1,000-year-old texts are still easily read, most notably, the Sagas which are a great inspiration for Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and other popular fantasy.

  6. Iceland currently ranks as the most expensive country to travel to. Staying in hotels is 32% more costly in Reykjavík than in other Nordic capitals; prices of restaurants and lodging exceed the EU average by 44%; while the cost of alcoholic beverages outstrips the same standard by a whopping 123%.

  7. Iceland has 4500 square miles of glaciers, 30 active volcanic systems, 800 hot springs, and over 10,000 waterfalls.

  8. The history of Icelandic music is a history of scarcity. There were no pianos, violins, or cellos for a long time because they couldn’t survive the climate. So there has been a special focus on the voice as their primary musical instrument. Pretty much every Icelandic town has its own choir which plays a major part in their social life. Today they have become leaders in contemporary music across many genres.
